Fourth of July marks the turning time for our espaliered apples. Fuji and Anna apples fill our baskets with shades of the mellow green and rosy pink summer crop. Our job is to eat, enjoy, peel and cook. We like apple pies, tarts and chunky apple sauce with cinnamon and brown sugar.
We are sorry to say that is a toasty 116 degrees outside today! That means it's a really good day to stay inside and peel apples!
We are love, love love our family, friends and followers and we are so thankful our amazing Country!

BEAUTIFUL apples!
Your apples are just amazing. As a kid, it was my job to pick the apples to make apple sauce. I made a lot of apple sauce. Your apples are so beautiful. I've never seen them grow as yours do. Happy 4th of July.
I would love to try to espalier some fruit trees, but am so intimidated by it. We have three apple trees (Anna, I think) and they are very old and huge, so it would have to be with something new, but not sure where to do it. It is nice to know that they will produce so well here in an espalier form. I have wondered about that for years. How old are your trees?
Thanks for stopping! Gardener on Sherlock Street, I was checking out your blog and love the post on Lavender. It is lovely! Ann, did you have a favorite apple sauce recipe? D, my apple trees are about six years old, they have been producing since they were two years old. Espaliers are so much easier to control that regular apple trees. You just have to keep them clipped close to the main branches.
Love apples! 116 degrees? Holy MOley! stay inside and think cool thoughts!
Blessings, Joanne
Thank you Joanne! That is exactly what we are doing... well until we have to venture out to feed the chickens and harvest tomatoes and apples, you know all that stuff!
Wow, what a cool and fresh blog! I love all your photos! Those apples are just so inviting. I love your Logo or image at the top of your blog also. I grew up in Marysville California where lots of peaches are grown. In fact, I am here now visiting my mother. The peaches in this area will be getting ripe enough to be picked in a few days!
I have to go back and read some of your other postings.
Cheers!
Trinidad
